Mission & Purpose

Serve those who served.

American Heroes Equine Connection is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit delivering free equine therapy, ranching, and farming education to veterans, first responders, and Gold Star families.

A multi-faceted approach to healing

AHEC combines equine-assisted therapy, ranching education, and farming education into a single, mission-driven experience. Every element — the horses, the pasture, the barn, the community — is arranged to serve those who served.

Who we serve

  • Veterans of the United States Armed Forces
  • First responders — fire, police, EMS, dispatch, and search & rescue
  • Gold Star families and military / first responder families

Why this mission is urgent

The scale of unseen wounds carried by American heroes is staggering:

  • 271,000 Gulf War veterans — about 10% of Desert Storm veterans live with PTSD.
  • 660,000 OIF / OEF veterans — an estimated 11–20% live with PTSD.
  • 1.2 million+ Vietnam veterans — lifetime PTSD rates near 31% (male) and 27% (female).
  • An estimated 16.8 to 22 veteran lives are lost to suicide every day.

Programs are free — always

Every program at AHEC is offered at no cost to the veterans, first responders, and families we serve. That access is possible only because of the donors, sponsors, and community partners who fund this work.

Where your donation goes
